Day 40

John 21:24-25

Before you begin, take a few moments to quiet your mind and prepare your heart to receive God’s Word. Read the following passage at least twice, and then pray through the points below.

24 This is the disciple who is bearing witness about these things, and who has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true. 25 Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.

Today's Prayer Points

  • As our church finishes this season of prayer and fasting, take a few moments to reflect on the God we have been praying to. He is unfathomably great, kind, mighty, just, wise, loving, gentle, holy, and many other things too wonderful to describe. This is the God we have access to, every day of our lives. Praise our great God that we can talk to him any time we want! Take heart that He listens to us with the ears of a Father listening to beloved children.

  • John tells us there were so many other things Jesus did that, if all of them were to be recorded, the books would more than fill the earth (21:25). The Jesus we’re following and trusting is a Jesus greater than we can ever imagine. Like the Father, Jesus is more kind, loving, humble, just, holy, wise, and perfect than we can imagine. His promises to us are trustworthy. Pray that God would remind our church, and those sent to the nations, that this is the Jesus whose name we go in. When fear or suffering make us want to quit, it is this Jesus who sustains us.

  • Do not neglect to pray for God to send people from among us to the nations. Ask God to show you clear next steps that you can take right now to play a role in taking the gospel to the unreached. All of God’s redeemed people are called to pray, send with our resources, or go. Ask God to show you where you can take up your cross and follow Him, no matter the cost. Jesus is worth everything we can give. The eternity of the nations is worth sacrificing anything God might ask of us. May we all together in unity continue to ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers. The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Our God is good, and He will answer our prayer. By His grace, we will be ready when He does.
