Day 32

Galatians 6:2

Before you begin, take a few moments to quiet your mind and prepare your heart to receive God’s Word. Read the following passage at least twice, and then pray through the points below.

2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Today's Prayer Points

  • The opposite of bearing one another’s burdens is each of us bearing our own in a state of self-reliance. That’s exactly what Paul is correcting in this passage. Humble interdependence is what God models for us through the Trinity. Prideful independence is the opposite of what we’re called to in Christ. Is self-reliance your norm? Do you seek to share your burdens with others? Do you seek to carry the burdens of others? Take a few moments to reflect on your answers, and ask God to show you the beauty of a community that bears one another’s burdens.

  • Pray that God would show us how to effectively carry one another’s burdens as we send and go. Pray that He would show us opportunities to lighten the burdens of those we serve alongside. Ask Him to keep us from inadvertently increasing the burdens of our brothers and sisters, especially those who are sent to hard places

  • God’s Spirit lives in us to empower us in fulfilling the law of Christ. We have been changed by Him, and we’re being changed every day. Pray that God would remind us that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives inside us and empowers us to bear one another’s burdens (Romans 8:11). Pray that in bearing burdens, we would always point one another back to Christ and to His Spirit at work in us. Ask God to give us joy as we serve one another in this way.
