Day 21

Romans 15:17-21

Before you begin, take a few moments to quiet your mind and prepare your heart to receive God’s Word. Read the following passage at least twice, and then pray through the points below.

17 In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to be proud of my work for God. 18 For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience—by word and deed, 19 by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God—so that from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ; 20 and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, 21 but as it is written, “Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.”

Today's Prayer Points

  • God calls us to be salt and light in a world of cultures that are broken and even hostile to His gospel. Pray that God will show us how to engage the cultures of the world while still keeping ourselves distinct and set apart as God’s children.

  • Salt is not useful if it loses its saltiness (5:13). Beg God to help us keep the distinct flavor of the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Pray for boldness in sharing the good news and in going to the nations. Pray that we would not fear or ignore cultures that need the salt and light of the gospel.

  • Pray that God would remove any fear in those among us He is calling to go live among unreached peoples. Ask God to help us all live as salt and light, so that by His power we can change the brokenness around us with the gospel. Pray that God’s perfect love would cast out fear so that we can live as a set-apart people who do not shy away from engaging the nations and their brokenness.
