Isaiah 6:8, Romans 10:14-15
Before you begin, take a few moments to quiet your mind and prepare your heart to receive God’s Word. Read the following passage at least twice, and then pray through the points below.
8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”
14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
Today's Prayer Points
- Think about how you came to know saving faith in Jesus Christ. Who are the people in your life who were faithful to proclaim the good news of Jesus to you? Maybe it was a pastor, Sunday school teacher, or family member. Perhaps college roommates, neighbors, or coworkers regularly shared their stories and lives with you. Take a few moments to thank God for the individuals and communities who boldly and lovingly proclaimed the gospel to you, that you might know Jesus and be saved through Him.
- Pray that each church in the cooperative will make a long-term commitment to send people to preach the Word among the unreached. We don’t want this undertaking to be a short-lived initiative that “loses its luster” over time. We want to commit to years of investment as a response to everything we see in Scripture and have received from God through Christ. Pray to that end.
- God is faithful to send us across the street or across the globe if we, like the prophet Isaiah, raise our hands and say, “Here I am! Send me.” Pray for willingness in our church body and among the cooperative to go to the nations. Pray that God would make each of us people who desire His will and trust His provision above our own as we follow where He leads.
